One of the challenges teachers cite most often is classroom management. In a classroom with 25 or more students, keeping everyone focused on learning requires a great deal of skill, wisdom, and consistency. Sadly, many teachers don’t receive much help during their college coursework. They are left to figure out how to manage their classroom by trial and error or by taking extra classes to learn how to manage student behaviors in the classroom.

Student Engagement

Much of classroom management is about student engagement. After all, a student who is engaged in their learning is unlikely to become a challenge. The topic of puberty is certain to engage students. Students love to learn about themselves, and puberty is all about them. This egocentric phase is part of typical childhood development and works in favor of attentive student behavior during puberty education classes.

Intriguing Topic

Puberty classes are also engaging because this topic is not often discussed openly. The air of mystery around puberty adds an element that students find intriguing. When trusted adults are willing to talk to students about puberty in an open and accepting manner, students respond by paying attention and asking thought-provoking questions.

However, that’s not enough to ensure a classroom that engages all students. Here are six additional tips for managing classroom behavior:

  1. Keep attention
  2. Deepen discussion
  3. Call on students
  4. Work in small groups
  5. Gamify learning
  6. Manage behavior

By applying these strategies for engaging students during puberty education classes, educators can reduce or eliminate many challenging student behavior issues.
