Let’s remember why we do what we do. Let’s remember that young people are looking for us! (That is, people who will talk to them about puberty, relationships, and sexuality.)
Teachers Talk Puberty Is for YOU!
Speaking of you… If you are feeling alone and exhausted, please consider joining your fellow puberty teachers in “Teachers Talk Puberty.” You have two options. Pick one or both to surround yourself with people who are walking in your shoes.
“Teachers Talk Puberty” monthly webinar:
If you are a puberty teacher who wants to talk to other puberty teachers, please join us for 60 minutes of interaction. Part education, part conversation… this free, monthly webinar is made for you! The topic changes monthly, so join us! We are taking the summer off. Watch for information in the fall.
“Teachers Talk Puberty” private Facebook group:
Let’s face it… teaching 9-to-13-year-old students about puberty is hard. It’s also a blast! If you are a puberty teacher who wants to exchange ideas with other puberty teachers, this is your group. Whether you have great tips and ideas to share or problems to solve, we are in this together. Want to tell a funny story? We want to hear it. Want to ask a question? We will put our heads together to share our thoughts and information. Join us HERE.
International Sex Education Day is February 2
As sex educators, we do this all day every day, right? On this day, we focus on encouraging parents and caregivers to start conversations with their kids around sex and relationships. Be sure to watch for the hashtag #ISED to see tips for talking to kids. Watch one of my tips here. Make your own tip and post it to social media. Let’s activate all that power parents hold and equip them for success.
If you know parents who want to take a self-paced online class to get ready for talking to their children about puberty, check this out.
As always, I love to hear from you. Please contact me to share your thoughts.
